Author Study: Mary Pope Osborne

We have enjoyed reading many books by Mary Pope Osborne. We loved the settings, the characters, and the plots in her Magic Tree House series. Most of us read the 28 Magic Tree House books and some others such as those involving the Merlin Missions.
Mary Pope Osborne’s books took us to many places. We went back in time with Jack and Annie on these trips. When we returned to our time we had many questions and we made some connections and comparisons.
We studied as a class the three books on natural disasters. These books are Vacation Under the Volcano, Twister on Tuesday, and Earthquake in the Early Morning.
We would like to share some of our observations with you by answering these questions:
- How was the Roman town, Pompeii, in AD 79 different to New York city today?
- What was the name of the mountain that erupted on August 24, A.D. 79.
- Why did Jack and Annie go to Pompeii?
- Is there any connection that you can make to any of these three books?

favorite author. She gave me clues of what is going on and fact . Her books make dream. I hope Mary Pope Osborne come out more than one thousand books.I like to be a writer just like you. I wish I could keep all your books in a glass case with a golden key. I want Mary Pope Osborne make a books call A day at the beach.

In Pompeii AD 79 there was a valcano. The valcano that erupted is called Mount Vesuvius.A lot of people died because of the ash that fell on the people.

I read the book Twister on Tuesday. I like the part when Jack and Annie went to the one-room school house. The teacher looked like a young person. She had three kids in her class and one classroom. They had one book in the schoolhouse and they had benches in the school house. They ate lunch outside and they had a storm cellar in the ground.

The name of the mountain is Mount Vesuvius.It erupted at AD 79,at noon.This disaster reminds me of the volcano that erupted last summer in Iceland.Mount Vesuvius erupted and killed a lot of people.Also the tsunami hit Japan and killed a lot of people.

The people of Pompeii wore tunics and sandals.The streets had cobble stones on it. When the volcano erupted there was a big cloud of ash, then pumice fell out everywhere.People were running everywhere like crazy.

I had read that book and it was very interesting. The destruction from the volcano was very bad. It reminds me of the terrible destruction in Japan two weeks ago. I feel very sad for the people that died and those who lost their homes.

I think you should read them because you will learn so much about the past and the present. You will also learn about the differences of the olden days and the modern days,you can also learn about how the other people used to dress back then and how they complete their mission for Morgan and for Merlin. You will find out when you read the books.Angelina helped me.

My favorite book by Mary Pope Osborne is A Ghost Tale For Christmas Time because it teaches an important lesson. The lesson that the book thought me was to never give up on your dreams. I would give this book 5 stars.

I read a book called Christmas In Camelot.It is a good book .Did you know that Morgan is the of King Author.The story is about Merlin put a note in the tree house so Jack Annie can go to Camelot. But Jack and Annie don’t know that Merlin put it in the magic tree house so they can come to Camelot. I want Jack and Annie to come to New York to see the Big Apple or go to Coney Island.

I read a Mary Pope Osborne book called Haunted Castle on Hallows Eve. In that book Jack, Annie, and Teddy went to a castle called the castle of duke. The characters were,Jack, Annie, Teddy, and Merlin. Jack, Annie, and Teddy got Merlin’s diamond back.

I read a book called Vacation Under the Volcano.This is one of the books by Mary Pope Osborne.This book is one of my favorites.It takes place in Pompeii.Pompeii was a beautiful ancient city.It had wonderful things there.It had open shops,olive groves,and many other things.It erupted in AD79,at noon.Many people died.Pompeii was fully buried by ashes in the second day.Annie is one of the characters,so is Jack.Jack and Annie went to Pompeii to save a story called Vi Fortissimis from being destroyed forever from the eruption.

I think your blog is great. In Pompeii they wore tunics and sandals. In NY today we wear different clothes.Also in Pompeii they had an ampitheater,where horrible things happened.In NY we have theaters almost everywhere.We also have shows on Broadway.Pompeii had Soothsayers which in NY are like people who tell your future by reading the palm of your hand.
